Rukmangada

Rukmangada had a warrior rank of Rathi. Other names: Rukmavarma. Affiliation: Kaurava. Was one of the twins born to Shalya and Avantini. He and his twin brother was killed by Abhimanyu inside the Chakravyuha on the 13th day. His elder brother (10 years older) was Madranjaya who was killed by Virata on the second day of the war.

“Then the mighty Rukmangada, son of the ruler of the Madras, for assuring the frightened troops, fearlessly said, ‘Ye heroes, ye need not fear! When I am here, what is Abhimanyu? Without doubt, I will seize this one a living captive’. Having said these words, the valiant prince, borne on his beautiful and well-equipped car, rushed at Abhimanyu. Piercing Abhimanyu with three shafts in the chest, three in the right arm, and three other sharp shafts in the left arm, he uttered a loud roar. Phalguni’s son, however, cutting off his bow, his right and left arms, and his head adorned with beautiful eyes and eye-brows quickly felled them on the earth.
